Dave has made a song for you.
You may listen here.
You may thank Dave here.
Please enjoy it.

It is very impressive music.
I will give him my thanks.

That is an 'emoji'.
Dave explained them.
It does not look like the void but it is a heart.
[ And then it spends the next several minutes deleting, retyping, and deleting again, before it finally allows itself to type the first word, and then the next two, and finally press send. ]
Thoughts of you.

Someone named Peter told me about those.
I did not know that was one of them.
[There's clearly a lot here that they still have to learn.]
Thank you, sibling. I think of you too.

It is good to know that you are making friends.
Please send a message to this account if you require anything.

And, sibling... Father is not here. She is not here.
No one will be upset if you think or feel. No one will take advantage.

[ Its sibling would not mourn a being that had left them. The Hollow Knight could not grudge them any lack of care towards their Father. On some level, it understood Grimm's revulsion, and that was as nothing to a sibling directly affected.
But it could not deny that it had loved their father, and that He had loved it in return. Nor, even, that it thought that He might have mourned for the children that He had left, just as much for the kingdom He could not save.
Sharing that with their sibling, however, would not matter. It did not change what He had done.
And that was hard for the Hollow Knight to admit, even to itself. Harder, perhaps, than admitting it had thoughts. Or feelings. ]

I saw what was left of him. In the palace. He had one thought left.
"No cost too great."
[They're pretty sure a lot of people they know would have disagreed.]
no subject
His pain, and his comfort. Their Father had suffered so much, and kept it all behind His smooth regalia. Even when their mother had bound Herself and had Dryya take Her to the Gardens, He Hadn't let Himself seem hurt. The Hollow Knight had felt it.
No cost too great.
How would things have changed, if He could have been as cruel as that mantra had suggested? Or if He had given in to His softness, to His regret? Would they have found another way to contain the Radiance?
Did it matter?
He was dead. ]
Yes.
To Him, a harsh truth.
The world is a smaller place without His presence.
But a better one, for what you managed.
[ It felt it should say that it was sorry for having left them, following Him out of the abyss without them. But... but...
No. ]
no subject
Hornet will see to that.
[If there was one member of their family the Knight had put all their trust in, it was their sister. And a good thing too, considering Hallownest was in her hands now.]
It wasn't all for nothing.
[All that suffering, all that sacrifice... it would have been unacceptable for it to just be meaningless.
That was why they'd done what they did.]
no subject
It wasn't.
You succeeded.
We succeeded.
Void succeeded.
[ Better to focus on that than bring its guilty mourning to a sibling who had only known rejection from the one who it mourned.
They were the Void.
Giving that mourning to the Void was better.]
no subject
You held Her back long enough for me to unite our siblings.
I could not have done it without you.
[Yes, they couldn't save the original Hallownest.
But as they'd just said, Hornet was there.
It would rise again.]
no subject
It would not do so again.
no subject
It would have been another if not you.
Would it have been better if I left you behind?
[They think that answer is obvious.]
no subject
But a mistake nevertheless, rectified in unity.
Of Void.
no subject
I do not know if it is as father meant us to be.
But I do know it is right.
no subject
It is right.
Thank you, sibling.
Enjoy the song, and please contact this account should you need anything of this vessel.
Or call to it.
It shall hear.
no subject
Farewell for now, sibling.
Though we are never truly apart.
